Markers Wave for Memorial Day
Duluth to honor Korean War veterans on 60th anniversary of war at Memorial Day Service.
Memorial Day markers topped with waving American flags line parts of Buford Highway, Main Street, West Lawrenceville Street, and Pleasant Hill Road in Duluth. The white cross-shaped markers bear the names of deceased U.S. military serviceman who served their country.
The markers and flags serve as a prelude to the city's Memorial Day Service at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 26, at the Duluth Town Green and Amphitheater. This year’s service will honor Korean War veterans on the 60th anniversary of the 1950-1953 war. They will be presented commemorative coins in appreciation of their service.
The service is sponsored by the City of Duluth, American Legion Post 251, and the U.S. Department of Defense. American Legion Riders from Post 251 will deliver a "Fallen Heroes Salute."

These flags represent freedom and remind me, more than normal, of what I have each time they go up!! I love seeing them and the honor they give the men who gave their lives for our country. This is one of the greatest things about Duluth that I love and I hope Duluth always continues this tradition.
