Kathy Schrader Campaigns for Superior Court Judge

An attorney in Gwinnett County for 25 years, Schrader also serves as a municipal court judge for Duluth and Sugar Hill.

 

Attorney Kathy Schrader continues her campaign announced in December to succeed retiring Gwinnett County Superior Court Judge Dawson Jackson. The election is scheduled for July 31, 2012.

A Duluth resident, Schrader has been a lawyer in private practice in Gwinnett County for 25 years. She also serves as a municipal court judge for the cities of Duluth and Sugar Hill. Schrader is a past president (1995-96) and remains active with the Gwinnett Bar Association. Also, she is a former prosecutor for the City of Duluth.

Schrader was unanimously appointed to serve on the Federal Advisory Commission on Juvenile Justice. She was named to the Governor’s Office for Children and Families for three consecutive terms where she currently serves as chair of the Juvenile Justice Advisory Sub-Committee.

“My 25 years in private practice representing families in Gwinnett County, service as a Municipal Court Judge in Duluth and Sugar Hill, appointment by Gov. Sonny Purdue to the Governor’s Office for Children and Families, and my leadership in our community make me uniquely qualified to serve as the next Gwinnett County Superior Court Judge,” said Schrader. She has twice been qualified for a Superior Court judgeship by the Judicial Nominating Commission.

In addition, Schrader has worked tirelessly for the Gwinnett community by serving on the advisory board of the Pregnancy Resource Center of Gwinnett and the fundraising committee of the United Way Women’s Legacy. She is a graduate of Leadership Gwinnett and an active member of the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce, the Duluth Civitan Club, and the Cornerstone Society of Gwinnett Medical Center. In 2008, Schrader was honored as a member of the 2008 Class of Women Out Front by Georgia Tech for her service to women and children.

She attends Cross Pointe, The Church at Gwinnett Center and is active in the Women’s Ministry and Missions. Schrader also serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Child Evangelism Foundation Georgia. 

Her educational background includes earning an undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and a law degree from Mercer University. She and her husband Richard have been married for 25 years and have three children. They have both served as coaches and scout leaders.
