Gwinnett County Updating GIS Website Browser
The online tool can be used to map such things as land parcels and legislative districts.
Gwinnett County officials are updating the online Geographic Information System (GIS) browser in a manner that includes aerial photography and ground surveys.
According to a county newsletter, Gwinnett County contracted with Sanborn Map Company to acquire this data. Sanborn's team for this service will include WK Dickson & Co. Inc., a surveying firm based in Raleigh, NC.
Surveyors will place temporary black and white plastic targets, sized between 10 and 12 feet and in the shapes of "V," "X," or "T", within the public right-of-way and other public access lands around the county.
Targets will be removed by mid-April when the aerial flight and quality control of the images is expected to be completed.
The GIS tool is available to the public on the Gwinnett County website. It enables searches for such things as legislative districts, fire stations, and street addresses.
