Gwinnett Braves Sweep Double-Header

Medlen recalled by Atlanta.

The Gwinnett Braves swept a double-header from Columbus on Friday at Coolray Field. Gwinnett won by scores of 4-0 and 8-3. It's the first time since May 25-26 that Gwinnett has won consecutive games. The G-Braves' Luis Durango went 5-for-7 with a triple, and one RBI and Tyler Pastornicky was 4-for-6 with two doubles.

Todd Redmond (6-4) pitched a complete-game shutout for the G-Braves in Game One.

Pastornicky extended his hitting streak to nine games, longest on the club.  Ernesto Mejia went a combined 3-for-7, extending his hitting streak to eight games.

Julio Teheran is scheduled to start for the G-Braves on Saturday vs. Columbus (7:05 p.m.) at Coolray.

Also, the G-Braves announced Friday that pitcher Kris Medlen has been recalled by Atlanta, and that pitcher Cory Gearrin has been optioned to Gwinnett.

This was Duluth Night at the G-Braves, and I attended with my daughter Tracy and her boyfriend Bryan. They played the Tennis Ball Toss after the game and the fireworks. They landed a ball in a swimming pool at third base and won two tickets to a future game of their choice. It was a beautiful evening, and the G-Braves got lots of hits.
