Gem Shopping Network Founder Charged With DUI
Frank Circelli, founder and chairman of Duluth-based Gem Shopping Network, was arrested and charged twice with DUI over the holidays.
Frank Circelli, founder and chairman of Duluth-based Gem Shopping Network, was arrested early Christmas morning and just after midnight New Year’s Day by Suwanee Police and charged with DUI and traffic violations, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Friday (Jan. 4).
Circelli, a Duluth resident, was booked into the Gwinnett County Detention Center after both incidents and then released on bond, according to the AJC and jail records.
In the Christmas morning incident, Suwanee Police were dispatched to Settles Bridge Road near Barony Drive where an officer found Circelli asleep in his 2008 Jaguar in a northbound turn lane with an open bottle of Grey Goose vodka, the AJC article stated. There was a heavy odor of alcoholic beverages, and the Jaguar’s wheels were damaged as if the car had hit the curb, the officer reported.
A pill found in a plastic bag was later identified as a pain pill. In addition to DUI (driving under the influence), Circelli was charged with violating the open container law and being in possession of a controlled substance, acccording to the AJC and jail records.
Suwanee Police arrested Circelli again after his Jaguar was involved in a traffic accident with a Mazda at Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and McGinnis Ferry Road New Year’s Eve, the AJC article stated. A Suwanee Police officer reported the Jaguar had incurred extensive damage, and he smelled alcohol on Circelli, whose speech was slurred and eyes were glassy. Circelli was charged with DUI and failing to obey traffic control devices, according to the AJC and jail records.
