Can Duluth HS parents verify that they received no notification that the principal was being moved? Also, are PTA funds spent on the parent communications system (that GCPS uses 24/7 for fundraising, propaganda, lobbying, etc.)? I've received many complaints that this is a promotion for Mr. Lane because he has shown he can go along to get along with Superintendent Wilbanks and Board Member Murphy. It is also seen by many as retaliation against Duluth constituents and city leaders for showing opposition to multiple controversial issues - unfair student reassignments, funding of Chamber of Commerce lobbyists, lack of transparancy/sunshine law violations, teacher leave policy and procedures, land deals, school building locations, etc.

The above seems to be the consensus. I have been told that there was no announcement made at DHS. Neither PTSA officers nor local school council leaders were informed by GCPS or DHS. Apparently, word spread among staff and constituents when GCPS posted the announcement on facebook at 4:30 Friday afternoon. Because of the timing, there was no DHS nor GCPS personnel available for comment.

If your initial reaction of badmouthing the principal and the school system is any indication of the attitude the principal was facing in Duluth, then maybe you should look simply look around you to see why he might have been "promoted".

Any "attitude" problem Jason Lane faced at Duluth was his own creation. He routinely intimidated and lied to students, then engaged in a semester long Salemesque witch hunt of his students to entertain himself. Duluth will be a better place without this man and I pity the Mill Creek students and the mess they have invited into their abode.

Thanks Faye of Duluth Patch for posting this article and keeping the Duluth community informed. I have heard that Mr. Lane's last day at DHS is November 30. Still no word on his replacement at Duluth. According to GCPS: teacher, parent, and student input will be accepted and Wilbanks will be conducting selected interviews. Next week is Thanksgiving Break for GCPS. The announcement to DHS parents is yet to be made and there are only 8 school days before the replacement principal will be in place.

I wish it weren't the case but Dwayne is absolutely correct. Salemesque doesn't even come close to describing the lengths Mr. Lane and his administration took to exploit the rights if his students. It appears as if one of his cronies will soon be his successor and Duluth as well as Mill Creek students are in for a rude awakening. Never surrender your rights students! They're all you have
