Bites Nearby: Magnolia Bakery Cafe

A neighborhood bakery serving sandwiches on their own fresh-baked bread.

This week's Bites Nearby takes a look at a local bakery open for breakfast and lunch.

Magnolia Bakery Cafe -- The first Magnolia location opened in Norcross in 1994. The family-owned business has enjoyed success on the strength of their fresh-baked bread and pastries. You can buy the bread by the loaf, but you can also enjoy it as a vehicle for meat and cheese in one of their signature sandwiches. You can find most every deli classic like the ham and cheese, the Reuben, the chicken salad, the Italian, and the Cuban. Other lunch choices include soups and salads, as well as loaded baked potatoes. For breakfast, they serve omelettes, biscuits and gravy, pancakes and all the regular things you would expect from breakfast. A nice touch is building your own breakfast sandwich on one of their fresh-out-of-the-oven bagels, biscuits or croissants. Magnolia Bakery Cafe also caters.

Magnolia Bakery Cafe is located at 1160 Old Peachtree Road, Duluth, GA 30097. Reach them by phone at 678-584-1030. Open Monday-Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Check out a full menu on Magnolia's official website.

I love almost anything on fresh-baked bread and just plain bread, maybe with butter on it.

Give me a fresh baked baguette and you can even leave the butter off!
