Betty Lynam, regent of the William Day chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Duluth, on Feb. 11 received a Proclamation for Georgia Day from the Snellville City Council and Mayor Kelly Kautz.

Created by the Georgia General Assembly, Georgia Day recognizes "the anniversary of the landing of the first colonists in Georgia under Oglethorpe" on Feb. 12, 1733, in what would become Savannah, the first Georgia city and first state capital.
