Shelter Pets at SPCA in Suwanee Get an Early Thanksgiving

The homeless pets in the care of the Georgia SPCA in Suwanee enjoyed a special Thanksgiving feast this past weekend. The meal, which featured roasted turkey, vegetable sides and sweet potatoes, was prepared by the pet-loving staff of Best Friends Pet Care in Duluth.

The turkey dinner for pets is a holiday tradition at Best Friends, which hosts the feast every year for family pets boarding over Thanksgiving at its pet care center. “We know pets are part of the family, and if they were at home over the holiday, they’d be enjoying treats from the family dinner table,” said Best Friends Manager Anita Callaway.

In the spirit of sharing, Best Friends staff decided to prepare turkey dinners especially for the shelter pets. Best Friends staffers visited the shelter to serve the meal, and even hand-fed some of the dogs and cats.

“We wish every dog could have Thanksgiving dinner, especially those waiting for forever homes,” said Callaway.  “We’re happy to be able to share the holiday with them.”

Best Friends Pet Care offers boarding, grooming and doggy day camp at 3390 N. Berkeley Lake Road in Duluth. For information call 678-584-0999 or visit www.bestfriendspetcare.com.
