Philadelphia Winn NSDAR Celebrates 26th Christmas with Children of Tamassee

On Sunday, December 2, 2012, Philadelphia Winn National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will host a Tamassee DAR School cottage during the chapter's 26th annual Christmas party at the First Baptist Church of Lawrenceville at 1:00 pm.

Each year a different cottage attends. This year the boys from Pouch Cottage grade eight through twelve will travel to Lawrenceville from Tamassee, SC, where the DAR-sponsored school is located. The school assists children who come from families disrupted by lack of income, divorce, death, or desertion.

Earlier this year, the boys submitted their wish lists to the Daughters. Philadelphia Winn Charter Members Eloise Williams of Dacula, GA, and sister Ruth Strickland of Auburn, GA, as well as other family members then shopped for the gifts made possible by Daughter donations. The goal is to find the exact gift the child requests. In addition to gift giving, each Daughter will bring a covered dish for a fabulous lunch to share with the boys.

The party will take place during the chapter's regular monthly meeting. If you would like to join Philadelphia Winn, email philwinndar@gmail.com.
