Cindy Cannon Wins 1st Place in Speech Contests
Cindy Cannon, DTM, PDG, a member of North Gwinnett Advanced Toastmasters Club, won first place Jan. 21 in both International Speech and Table Topics Contests in club level.
The International Speech Contest is an annual Toastmasters contest that runs through all levels of the organization. Starting with club-level contests in the early months of the year, contestants proceed through higher levels until reaching the finals at the Toastmasters annual conference.
Winners of this contest are awarded the title "World Champion of Public Speaking." Competitors from Toastmasters clubs from all over the world enter this contest; however, members of clubs outside of districts are ineligible to participate.
Whereas, Table Topics provides members with an opportunity to practice careful listening, quickly preparing a relevant response, and expressing fluent, clear, and organized thoughts in a limited time. In table topics contest, contestants proceed through club, area, division, and all the way up to District (state) level.
Cindy Cannon will proceed to the next level contests, i.e. in area J91 level, to be held on Feb. 9, 2013, in the Assurant Building at 9 a.m., in Duluth against other area clubs.
